According to OSHA, the majority of workplace accidents and injuries are slips, trips and falls. Employers should take preventative measures to reduce or eliminate such injuries, such as:

  • Conducting regular and frequent inspections of the workplace and identifying environmental, equipment, and procedure-based hazards.
  • Taking immediate corrective action to address dangerous situations.
  • Implementing a near-miss program where employees identify hazards and correct any problems before there is an injury.
  • Providing safety training for all new employees, including how to avoid slips, trips and falls.
  • Providing regular retraining for all employees.
  • Requiring that all employees wear proper footwear for their work.
