Tye Smith has over 25 years of experience in local and county government management and human resources in the both the public and private sector. Tye has served as chief administrative officer, assistant city manager, director of human resources, and in Parks & Recreation. His focus is in the areas of employee and labor relations, insurance negotiations and plan designs, civil service laws, organizational development, and general HR compliance. In addition to human resources, Tye is passionate about information technology and helping others embrace it with confidence. He teaches tech literacy to senior citizen at his local senior center.

Key Accomplishments

• Developed and lead a health insurance cooperative for over 30 communities
• Implemented a DEI initiative for local fire departments that lead to the greatest diversification of area fire departments since the 1950s

Professional and Community Activities

Tye is active in his community through serving on his community’s Civil Service Board, Beautification Committee, and Recreation Commission. He also serves as a board member on ArtReach, which is dedicated to bringing music and art to underserved communities.
